Shakedown Campout! June 14-16, 2013 in Great Falls

Our mandatory shakedown campout is 2 weeks away!   Are you prepared?

  • Plan to arrive at the field behind the Scout Office (820 17th Ave South, Great Falls, Montana 59405) between 5-6 p.m. on Friday June 14th with your necessary gear.  Depart from 10-11 a.m. on Sunday June 16th.
  • Eat before arriving Friday evening;  meals will be provided all day Saturday and for Sunday breakfast.
  • Please do not bring a bunch of junk food, candy or snacks – you will not need it.
  • During this Shakedown, we will camp Jambo-style, just like at the Jamboree.
  • There will be 2 Scouts (from the same patrol) per tent.  Bring your own 2-4 person tent (9′ x 9′ is ideal); or let your Patrol Leader (or SPL, or Scoutmaster) know if you need to borrow a tent.
  • We will not be conducting Swim Tests – no need to bring your swimming gear.
  • There will be an open meeting (parents highly encouraged) Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to discuss our travel plans, updates from the National Jamboree, and our Code of Conduct.
  • The Scout Store will be open Friday until 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. This will be your last chance to receive the Jamboree Discount on uniform supplies… call ahead now to order, to ensure availability.

In just under two weeks we will have our first Montana Council Jamboree Contingent gathering! In addition to sharing the details of the Jamboree trip next year, your leaders have a fun time planned. Upon arrival, you will find out which of our two Troops you will be in and who your Troop Leaders are. * Your current BSA Health & Medical Record (to keep with you)

* $20 for food (covers the Scout/Venturer and his/her parents)

Scouts and Venturers will camp with their Troop in the main parade grounds. Parents are welcome to stay at K-M Scout Ranch and will have a nearby separate camping area. Meals will be prepared for us and served in the dining hall. If you have food allergies or anything else we need to be aware of, please send us an e-mail or call one of the Scoutmasters.

Mark Your Calendars for our September Organizational Campout!

September 7-9, 2012 at K-M Scout Ranch, near Lewistown, MT.

Plan to arrive Friday evening beginning at 4 p.m. and leave Sunday by 9 a.m.   Montana has two Jamboree Troops and a Venture Patrol. We’ll camp together Jamboree-style, get to know each other, and learn more about our action-packed Jamboree trip next year.

The cost for food will be $20 per participant.

You’ll get to meet your Troop’s senior leaders, selected from those who applied by the August 15 deadline – learn more and submit your applications from the MT Jambo website. By the end of this campout you will know which Troop and Patrol you are in and will have gotten to know some of the other Scouts in your Jamboree Patrol.

Be sure to bring all of your own camp gear! There will be a Parent’s Meeting Saturday; parents are welcome to camp at K-M or can stay in Lewistown. This will be a great time to get any questions answered! Be sure to check the MT Jambo website this week for more info.
